The Steps of Combatting Hair Loss
Hair loss has to be one of the most frustrating things to happen to anyone, whether they are male or female but there are a number of treatments out there. However, there are some things you should think about when you are looking and deciding upon treatments as some might not work for your condition and some might actually harm you. Here is the way that treatment should go in our opinion:
If you find that you are losing your hair, you should first visit your doctor and ask about what might be causing it. In this case, your doctor will more than likely be able to give you a good idea of what is wrong and what you can do about it. The most common form of treatment for hair loss in both men and women is with the drug; Minoxill which is also known as Rogaine. Your doctor might prescribe this for you if he thinks it is necessary.
If this doesn’t work, you should always visit your doctor again and see if he can look further into it. One of the things that you should explore at this stage if you find that drugs aren’t working at all is natural treatments or perhaps a better diet. This is a necessary step in finding what’s wrong and a lot of the time, a better diet will be all that you need.
If none of this works, then you might start looking for more drastic treatments if your condition is a severe one. Things such as replacement hair surgery are options at this stage but you should always exhaust all other options first and also ask your doctor what he/she would recommend for you to do in your situation and whether this kind of treatment is safe.
The Perfect Hair Loss Diet – Part 2
Yesterday we talked about the ways that a diet can really affect your hair loss and we showed you some of the things that you can incorporate into your diet in order to help things along. As we mentioned, there are a lot more great things that you should be putting in your diet so we have decided to let you know about some of these things.
Hair loss is often something that occurs when your hair isn’t as healthy as it should be so one of the things that you can really help your hair with is Prunes. Believe it or not, if you suffer from dry hair, thin hair or stiffness of your hair, eating prunes will really help. The reason that your hair probably feels like this in the first place is due to an iron deficiency and prunes are well known as great sources of iron. This means that they will greatly improve the quality of your hair if incorporated into your diet which is great news for you if you suffer from this.
Something else that should really be incorporated into your diet is oats. The great thing about oats is that not only do they help your hair, but they actually help the rest of your body too as they are packed with fibre and other great essentials for your body. Oats however are full of zinc, iron and omega-6 fatty acids. In particular, these omega-6 fatty acids are essential for your body when creating healthy skin and hair. This means that having a bowl of oats every day for your breakfast will really help bring on your hair in terms of its health.
It is important to explore these things and in some cases, run them past your GP too if you are planning to eat a lot of them.
The Perfect Hair Loss Diet
Hair loss is something that is common in both men and women all around the world and there are a number of people that suffer from it. This also means that there are a number of products on the market which aim to combat hair loss for both men and women. If you have ever tried these, you will probably have found that many of them didn’t work. However, did you ever consider that simply changing your diet could drastically help your hair loss?
The fact is that hair is just like any other part of our body and it needs the correct nourishment and diet in order to keep it healthy. There are some simple changes you can make to your diet however that will really help to keep your hair healthy and here are some of them:
One of the things that you can do is to eat more carrots. Carrots are actually rich in Vitamin A which provides a great amount of nourishment for the scalp. Incorporating more carrots into an already relatively healthy diet that consists of a good amount of protein, fibre and carbohydrates can drastically improve the condition of your hair.
Another small change you can make is to eat more green peas. These vegetables are not particularly rich in one particular vitamin or mineral but they do actually contain a balanced amount of many of them. They contain things such as iron, zinc and Vitamin B groups that the body and hair really need. Eating plenty of these is essential for maintaining good hair.
If you couple these extra additions to your diet with good hair routines such as regular moisturising and shampooing, you will have healthier hair in no time; which also means lower risk of hair loss.
The Power of the Mind with Hair Loss
There are hundreds and possibly thousands of different treatments and solutions of the market these days for hair loss and there is a chance that you will not know which one of these is good for you or not. There are also a lot of people that really don’t like to take medicines that are not natural and for these people, there are not as many treatments available. One of the things that is often not talked about with hair loss is the power of the mind and how you might actually be able to ‘think’ your hair back.
The power of the mind is something that is talked about a lot in other areas and mind over matter has become a well known saying. There have actually been studies however when mind over matter has actually led to people growing back some of their hair. This might sound a bit ridiculous but there are a lot of people claiming that it actually works.
There have been a lot of studies done into hair loss drugs in which some subjects have been given placebo drugs in order to provide a good experiment. The results in a lot of these cases is that the patients that took the placebo drug actually also grew their hair back to some extent. This is a classic case of mind over matter and the fact that the patient believed they were having a hair loss drug that would help them encouraged them to grow the hair naturally.
Of course, there will be a lot of people that are sceptical about this but it has been proven that mind over matter works in some instances so it might be worth giving a go.

Hair Loss in Males Could Show Increased Prostate Cancer Risks
We all know that losing our hair can be quite a horrible thing to happen and none of us males want it to ever happen. However, according to new research, the implications of hair loss could have a much bigger effect than simply the visual appearance of us as it could point to an increased risk of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is a disease that typically strikes men of a certain age; usually they are older than 50 and most of them are over the age of 65. However, one French research company says that the age that men start to lose their hair could have an effect on how much they are at risk of developing the cancer. The study that was carried out in this area found that men who had developed symptoms of losing their hair in their 20’s had double the incidence of prostate cancer in later life than men who had developed these symptoms in their 30’s and 40’s.
During the research, there were a total of 669 men of which 338 of them had a history of prostate cancer. The other 281 men served as control subjects. The men were then asked to fill out a form with details on their prostate cancer as well as the age that they developed one of the four types of balding patterns that were pictured. The men were between the ages of 46 and 84 years old.
Although the research found some interesting results, the researchers have said that the link between baldness and prostate cancer is something that needs to be investigated further in order to get better results and determine what the actual links are between the two areas.
Protecting your hair in hot and humid conditions
Depending on where you live in the world, your hair could be subject to some pretty harsh condition and often, it is much harder to take care of your hair and prevent things such as hair loss if this is the case. It is a well known fact that keeping hair healthy is the main way that you can combat hair loss and if you live in an area where it is hot, sunny and humid, you hair will be dealing with this on a day to day basis. The same applies if you go on holiday to an area like this and you need to make sure that you take care of it.
Too much sunlight is bad for your hair; however, we have to remember that it does need some sunlight. One of the ways that you can protect your hair and scalp in hot, sunny conditions is to wear a hat. However, this can cause problems if you wear a hat for too long as it will actually contribute to the excretion and accumulation of oil on your scalp which will in turn cut off your oxygen supply to your hair as it hardens. In order to combat this, you need to choose a loose fitting hat and make sure not to wear it 24/7.
As well as this, you will need to make sure that you are treating you hair as best you can in terms of shampoos and conditioners. Hot and humid weather will take a lot out of your hair so it is important to use a good quality conditioner and shampoo. There is some shampoos and conditioners that are designed especially to help with this.
Taking Control of Female Hair Loss
Hair loss is one of those things that most people believe to only really affect men, however, this is not the case at all and in fact, around 40 percent of all hair loss sufferers in the United States are female. This is a large chunk of the percentage and it is important to know what to do if you are one of them. The good news is that you don’t have to simply start wearing head scarves or wigs these days as there is a lot that you can do about your hair loss. Here are some of the best tips:
The first thing that you will need to do if you are a female experiencing hair loss is to find out why. This is easier said than done although in some cases, such as pregnancy, it is easy to figure out. There are many common scenarios for why you are losing your hair including pregnancy, low functioning thyroid, hormonal imbalance and much more. A visit to your GP is the best way to figure out the problem.
Depending on your problem, there are a variety of ways to treat your hair loss. For a lot of the problems these days, it can be treated with simple medication such as a hormonal imbalance or a low functioning thyroid. A lot of the time, it might even be existing medication that is causing the hair loss, such as some birth control pills.
Another way you can gain control of the situation is to actually replace the hair you have lost. This is the most drastic form of treatment as it usually requires an operation but it is an option nonetheless.
It is important to know that female hair loss is a big issue and that you can also definitely take control of it, its just a matter of actually doing it.
Hair Loss and Pregnancy; Worry about the things matter
When it comes to hair loss and pregnancy, it is a well known fact that pregnancy will have a certain affect on your hair loss, it just depends on each individual as to how much it affects you. When you are pregnant, your body will put many of its functions on hold and this can often mean that you are losing more hair than usual. However, this is nothing to worry about and it is important to simply be able to deal with the situation.
When you are pregnant, it is perfectly normal to be losing around 100 strands of hair each day and although it can affect some women more severely, this is the average. This is nothing to worry about and you should know that once the pregnancy is over, things will start returning to normal. It is important to remember this when you are pregnancy so that you focus on the things that actually matter. What we mean by this is that you need to focus on your unborn child rather than the fact you might have slightly thinner hair than usual.
Being as you know that you are going to be ok once the pregnancy is over, you need to try not to worry about it and you could even use it to your advantage. Perhaps you could try a new hairstyle for a while or just wear a wig. However, it is hardly noticeable and you should make sure you don’t stress about it too much as stress is bad for your unborn child. Remember, it is a small price to pay for the miracle that is occurring in your life and no-one besides yourself is even noticing more than likely.
One in Five Singaporean Men Visit the Doctor Over Hair Loss
It is common knowledge that hair loss is one of those sensitive issues for men and women alike all over the world and it is for this reason that there are so many hair loss products on the market and celebrities are paying thousands to have hair loss treatment. However, according to a new study, Singapore is the country that is the most conscious about their hair loss with one in every five men actually visiting their doctor over the condition.
According to the same survey, Singapore men also spend the most money on hair loss treatments with them actually averaging around $300 per month. This is a far higher amount than the average spend of men in other countries in the same region including India, Malaysia and Taiwan. The survey also revealed some other interesting information regarding Singapore and hair loss as it found that seven out of ten men thought that losing their hair would definitely make them less attractive to the opposite sex.
The survey was actually carried out back in 2010 and surveyed 1,000 men between the ages of 20 and 40 from Singapore and the other countries previously mentioned in the same region. Doctors in the country have since spoken out about the hair loss condition saying that there are many different treatments on the market, although a holistic approach is recommended when buying treatments for yourself. Also, one doctor said that people should aim to target the root of the problem if they are to have any hope of actually having a significant affect on their hair loss situation.
The new research shows just how much hair loss can affect confidence and the daily lives of men all around the world.
