Dry Scalp Causes
Do you have a severely dry, itchy, and irritated scalp?
If you do, you aren’t alone. A lot of people have this problem,
and some can be affected worse than others. Some only get a dry
scalp with the changing of seasons, while others have to deal with
it all year long. There are a few reasons why people get dry scalp
and here are the most common ones.
• Hair styling products with harsh chemicals can cause irritation
to the scalp, as can the buildup from their regular use. If you
suspect that your hair styling products are making your scalp itch,
then it’s time to change.
• If you are taking medications, they all come with side effects-
and dry skin is a common one. Most people don’t think of their scalp
as part of their skin, but it is indeed. If you are on medication,
talk to your physician to see if it will cause dry scalp, and if
it does, see if you can get it changed.
• The climate you live in can affect your scalp. Dry weather will
sap moisture from the skin- that includes your scalp, too. If your
weather is arid, you should put a leave-in conditioner in your hair,
being sure to massage it into your scalp.
As far as treatments are concerned, natural treatments are a good
place to start. Some people like to treat dry scalp with conditioners
and shampoos, but these often have chemicals that can actually aggravate
the condition. Many people find that natural remedies offer relief.
